Supergirl, also known as Kara Zor-El, is a Kryptonian refugee who arrives on Earth after her planet's destruction. This version of the character gained prominence in the television series Supergirl, which premiered on CBS before moving to The CW and becoming part of the Arrowverse.
Kara was sent to Earth by her parents to protect her younger cousin, Kal-El (Superman). However, her pod was knocked off course, trapping her in the Phantom Zone for years. She arrives on Earth much later than Superman, who is already established as a hero.
Adopting the secret identity of Kara Danvers, she initially works as an assistant at CatCo Worldwide Media while learning to control her powers. Ultimately, she embraces her destiny as Supergirl, defending National City and, alongside Superman, protecting Earth from various threats, both terrestrial and extraterrestrial. Her first appearance was in the Supergirl TV show's pilot episode in October 2015.
